Cambodian hotels earn ASEAN distinction

Ten Cambodian hotels received the “ASEAN Green Hotel Standard” award during the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2012 in Indonesia last week, according to officials.
Ministry of Tourism general director Tith Chantha said the award was typically given to hotels that complied with certain eco-friendly criteria set by ASEAN, including environmental protection, electricity-saving and water-utility recycling.
“This award helps very much in promoting tourism. It gives off a positive image that attracts tourists and allows Cambodia’s tourism sector to be more competitive.
” Fifty Cambodian hotels have obtained ASEAN’s Green Hotel Standard”, according to Tith Chantha.
