Agricultural Development Action

Who we are

For improvement of agricultural productivity and sustainable agricultural development

Agricultural Development Action is a Cambodian NGO whose mission is to support poor, helpless and displaced people in Cambodia. We create opportunities for personal development and collective empowerment. Our aim is to improve rural people's living conditions through sustainable agriculture development and community based livelihood enhancement. We work directly with grass-root level and development partners to help communities and vulnerable people affected by economic defeat and displacement become self-sufficient.

What we do

We help by improving productivity in the farming practices, helping the people find alternative forms of employment, and empowering communities to be self-reliant and independent. Our main activities include small scale irrigation, rice, horticulture and fruit tree production, animal husbandry and rural credit and agricultural cooperatives.
Our operations began in 1998 in Battambang in north-western Cambodia, and have expanded to neighboring provinces. We have implemented a wide range of projects such as providing emergency help to vulnerable families and families on de-mined land and for post-drought disasters. We have also responded to flood disasters and provided agricultural seed and equipment to returned refugees. Our current projects range from food security to community base livelihood enhancement. Our social economical development projects include supporting teenagers at risk of trafficking with non-formal education and integrated farming skills.

What you can experience

• Visit our target communities to learn and understand our rural livelihood and agricultural development programs and approaches. Call us, email or we can visit you at your hotel to arrange the trip and organize a program to suit your needs (one day advance notice required).

o A one-day visit into the rural communities costs $150 between 1 to 3 people, and $200 between 1 to 5 people.
o Overnight stays (2 days, 1 night) in the local community to experience traditional Cambodian life cost $500.
o Costs include transportation (car), a guide, a translator (English), simple Khmer meal(s), accommodation (if overnight) and information on our projects.
o Day trips begin at 7am, returning to Battambang at 7pm the same evening.

• Learn how we support the children and youth in Poipet at risk of trafficking by visiting the training center located in Poipet commune, Banteay Meanchey province. The project manager and social workers will guide visitors to see teenagers receiving training as well as mental support.
• Contact your guesthouse, hotel, ADA office, or tour operator for more information.
