Angkor Hospital for Children

Who we are ?
Every child has the right to a healthy life

Angkor Hospital for Children is dedicated to improving the health and ensuring the future of Cambodia's children by providing full service, life saving paediatric care to over 100,000 sick and injured children a year. Our services include outpatient and inpatient care, a 24-hour emergency room; a dental program and outreach clinic. The dedicated staff of doctors and nurses provide services free-of-charge for between 300 to 500 babies and children a day.

What we do ?

The hospital was founded in 1999 by the internationally-acclaimed Japanese photographer Kenro Izu. He created the organisation Friends Without A Border (www.fwab.org), to fund and support Angkor Hospital for Children. Angkor Hospital for Children is funded entirely by grants and donations from supporters around the world.

Hospital services are critically needed in Cambodia. Our medical education department has been designated by the Ministry of Health as one of two paediatric teaching hospitals in the country, Angkor Hospital for Children is preparing the next generation of Cambodian doctors, nurses and hospital administrators by training over 1,000 health care professionals a year.

What you can experience

Kenro Izu has donated his platinum/palladium prints and photogravure prints of the temples of Angkor Wat. Visitors may purchase postcards, books and prints at Angkor Hospital for Children. In addition, there are gifts donated by other artists to help support the hospital.
Our new visitor centre will be opened in late 2007. Those with a genuine interest in the hospital and its work can organise a tour of the hospital with one of the hospital staff.

Another way to help us help the children of Cambodia is by donating blood. Blood banks are in scarce supply in Cambodia. We encourage all visitors to Siem Reap to enquire at the hospital.
Angkor Hospital for Children also welcomes volunteers with expertise in medical and non-medical fields.
